Here we have a gorgeous example of the Sansui 9090 receiver.  We love when get a chance to work on vintage monster receivers. This was the first 9090 that has come through our shop and we were not disappointed. We obtained the unit from a master banjo player, and recording studio technician who purchased the unit new.  The original owner is very organized and has folders for everything. He had all the manuals for all the gear we purchased from him. Included in the sale are the original owners manual, and some really cool color sales brochures of this 9090 receiver.

The unit had not been used in a number of years, and it needed a good cleaning, but everything was there and in excellent shape, including the often broken AM bar antenna on the back of the unit.  The 9090 was not working when we purchased it, as it would not come out of protection mode. We diagnosed the problem and thoroughly went over the unit, replaced parts as needed, and installed a new power cable. All switches and potentiometers were cleaned and treated with Deoxit D5 and then with  Deoxit D100.  We also converted to LED  the power meter lights, the Tuner meters lights (We used warm white LEDs on these) and the back dial lights. Once the unit was up and running we set the DC offset and Bias for both channels. The receiver then went to our main listening area where it has remained for the last 5 weeks. Normally we listen for a day or two to make sure everything is good, and list the item, but I'm late on this one. The sound is superb on this piece. The FM tuner has performed well, as well as the phono stage. We just really enjoy having it around.

On the outside, we detailed the faceplate, and all the knobs and switches. The Wood case needed a few small repairs and then was sanded and refinished. It's in really beautiful shape with only a few small defects.  Overall, the Receiver and Cabinet are just stunning.

We include free shipping to the lower 48 in the United States. The receiver will be packed with great care so it will arrive to the new owner safely. We use heavy duty boxes and and combination of instapak and or polystyrene foam, strapping and water activated tape.
