Mcintosh MA6600 Integrated Amp w/New Mcintosh Remote/New Factory Box
For your consideration, we have a beautiful example of the Mcintosh MA6600 Integrated amplifier. The unit is in perfect working order, and very good physical condition. At 200 Watts per channel, this amp is plenty powerful. Features balanced CD inputs, and a fine phono stage. Physically the unit is in very good condition with only small blemishes here and there. There is a mark on the right trim piece and a few other blemishes. Please see the many pictures in the listing for further details.
On our bench, we opened up the amp where it passed our visual inspection. Capacitors looked good with no bulging or signs of leakage. Resistors showed no signs of cracking or overheating, and the transistors showed no signs of damage. We then tested the amp using our Sencore PA81 amplifier analyzer. We ran a 1k sine wave into the amp, and on our scope each channel showed a clean wave. The amp easily tested clean at 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms. With the amp testing as it should, we then ran the unit in our house system for a few days. It's a great sounding, amp.
When we got the unit, it worked as it should, but we noticed that upon power up, the source knob would need to be turned in order to activate the source chosen. We obtained the service manual, and service bulletins for the unit, and one of the bulletins stated that we needed to send the main IC chip in to be updated. Mcintosh reflashed the chip with the final software update, and we reinstalled the chip. The unit now works as it should.
Included with the amp is a brand new Factory remote, and AC cord. The amp will ship in a factory fresh Mcintosh box.
From Mcintosh:
The MA6600 integrated amplifier teams a very low distortion, full function preamplifier with a potent 200 Watt per channel autoformer-coupled amplifier. The preamplifier stage supports 1 balanced and 7 unbalanced inputs and the input names are user configurable. The Variable Rate Volume (VRV) control with Post Attenuator, a McIntosh innovation, provides exceptionally accurate tracking and very low noise operation. Bass, treble and balance functions are all digitally controlled and adjustable via the MA6600 front panel or IR remote and bass and treble settings are automatically memorized independently for each input selection. All signal routing is accomplished with highly reliable, sealed electromagnetic switches. A ¼” front panel jack accesses a dedicated, low impedance headphone amplifier for use with dynamic headphones. Two switched, unbalanced line outputs are available for multi-zone use. The MA6600 power amplifier utilizes a 2-stage differential-balanced voltage amplifier coupled to a push-pull current amplifier and Output Autoformer. This topology exhibits extremely low noise and distortion along with high current capability and is designed to drive a wide range of loudspeakers to sound their very best. The output Autoformer enables the MA6600 to respond with full rated power and low distortion regardless of the load connected and delivers 200 watts per channel into 8, 4 or 2 ohms.
