Marantz DD-82 Digital Compact Cassette Deck w/Remote

For sale we have the rare and very collectable Marantz DD-82 Digital Compact Cassette Deck w/Remote. The unit is in very good to excellent physical condition, with only the smallest blemishes. The DD-82 has been cleaned and tested, and is in working order. We obtained a Neville Brothers DCC for testing that sounds amazing, we will include it in the sale. Also included in the sale is the original factory remote.  This is the first of these decks to come through our shop. We purchased this along with a number of other items from the widow of a collector, so we don't know the history of the unit, but it was obviously well cared for.  The player will be wrapped in plastic, and then surrounded on all sides with several inches of  polyethylene foam, and placed in a heavy duty box what will be taped on all seams with water activated, fiber reinforced tape. 

Some notes on the Marantz DD-82:

The Marantz DD-82 is a digital compact cassette deck that was first released in the early 1990s. It was designed to play and record digital compact cassettes, a format that was intended to replace traditional analog cassette tapes.

The DD-82 used a digital recording and playback system that used a 16-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and a digital signal processor (DSP) to provide high-quality sound. It also featured a variety of advanced features such as Dolby B and C noise reduction, a digital peak meter, and a digital timer that could be programmed to start and stop recordings automatically.

Despite its advanced features, the digital compact cassette format never really took off, and the DD-82 was eventually discontinued. Today, it is a collector's item for those interested in vintage audio equipment.
