BIX DIYHIFISUPPLY Turntable
For your consideration, we have a rare BIX turntable from Brian Cherry’s DIY Hifi Supply. Long since discontinued, we acquired this unit from a HiFi enthusiast that passed away. Much of the units in his collection were items that were of the best bang for the buck variety, and this table definitely fits the mold. It has a 2 section decoupled acrylic plinth, a 40mm thick frosted acrylic platter, and a detached DC motor, switchable 33/45 with fine tuning potentiometers. The unit came with a Thorens branded Rega RB250 tonearm, and was upgraded with the Origin Live structural upgrade, consisting of the two part chrome plated stub and new chrome counterweight.
We found the table to be an excellent sounding unit. It operates with a self lubricating Inverted bearing with highly polished ceramic ball on Teflon thrust plate. A mono filament is used to drive the platter.
Physically the plinth has some swirl marks/blemishes, and the platter also has some blemishes/discoloration. There are no dents or deep scratches, and the unit has been well cared for. Please see the pictures in the listing for further details.
We don't have the original box for the unit, but we will carefully pack the unit. The platter will need to be removed, as well as the counter weight. We don't have the original instructions, but we can assist via a phone call or facetime in helping to set up the table should the new owner need any help.
