From Straight Wire:

COAXIAL DIGITAL CABLES

Coaxial Digital cables have many of the same design requirements
as high quality video cables such as accurate 75 ohm impedance
with little variation over the relevant frequency range and great
shielding to prevent unwanted interference.

Issues of minimizing reflections and phase angle are also important for high quality coaxial digital cables. The use of premium insulation for high velocity of propagation and minimal absorption is mandatory for consistent good performance.

Terminations (both the connectors and methods of attachment to various cables) are critical to obtaining great performance.

RCA - Most common plug for coaxial digital connections. The center pin (positive) extends beyond the flange (shield or negative).

BNC - Twist lock connector with recessed center pin, a true 75 ohm connector. The BNC connector is used extensively for coaxial cables in professional and commercial installations and for select consumer applications.
