Burhoe Acoustics Crimson Burhoe Speakers
For your consideration, we have an extremely rare pair of Burhoe Acoustics, Crimson Burhoe speakers. The tweeters look to be in excellent physical condition, and they sound amazing. The woofers were replaced with a pair of Human Speakers 4" drivers. They are from the company Human Speakers out of New Hampshire. The original owner was an enthusiast, and since the woofers were replaced, I am assuming he either obtained new old stock tweeters, or serviced them. Physically, the cabinets are in very good condition, the corners are sharp, and the finish has only minor blemishes. The original foam grill panels have done their job in protecting the tweeters, and while they are still intact, they are breaking down, and are deteriorating.
The most important thing about these speakers are that they sound amazing. While quite small, these speakers produce remarkable lows, and smooth highs, with very good imaging. They sound very nice at modest volume. These were purchased in a collection from a gentleman that passed away. He was into low wattage amps, and loved small speakers, particularly British speakers. We obtained these, a set of celestion sl6's, a pair of Rogers LS1, a pair of Tangent Acoustics SPL1's, and a custom pair of small bookshelf speakers. In our shop, we fell in love with each pair.
The speakers measure 8 3/4" Wide x 7 13/16" Deep x 12 3/4" High.
We don't have the original box for the speakers, but we take packaging and shipping seriously. We spare no expense and use heavy duty boxes, several inches of polyethylene foam on all sides of the speakers, and use water activated, fiber reinforced tape on all seams.
From the original Brochure on the Crimson:
The Crimson Burhoe: Small Speakers - Big Sound
Like all other Burhoe loudspeakers, the Crimson delivers remarkable bass. But the bass response of the Crimson is even more astonishing because of this speaker's small size.
Never before has a speaker barely over a foot tall achieved anything this close to concert-hall realism.
And the Crimson Burhoe's performance is double astonishing when you consider price. Perfect for a starter system, the Crimson is the lowest priced speaker in the Burhoe Acoustics line. Yet the Crimson still makes little compromise in sound quality, reproducing very low notes that until now could only be heard on much larger and costlier units. The high frequency performance of the Crimson is equally impressive. A one-inch inverted-dome tweeter with ferrofluid damping reproduces wonderfully distinct and crisp treble notes that approach the limits of human hearing.
The combination of small size and large-speaker performance makes the Crimson ideal for listening environments where space is limited - bedrooms, small apartments, vans, campers, boats, and vacation homes.
And, because the Crimson Burhoe meets the same standards of efficiency as every Winslow Burhoe loudspeaker design, you won't need a large expensive amplifier to drive it. As little as 10 watts per channel will give you the powerful room-filling sound that Burhoe loudspeakers are famous for.
