McIntosh MC501 Power Amplifiers (pair)

For your consideration, we have a pair of Mcintosh MC501 Amplifiers in very good condition. We acquired the amps, along with a Mcintosh C200 Preamp from an audiophile customer who used them to run a pair of Sonus Faber Amati Homage speakers. The amps were originally bought as a pair as their serial numbers UM2023, and UM2029 indicate. 

We tested the amps when we picked them up from the original owner so we new they were in working condition. When we got them back to our shop and on our bench, we opened them up and visually checked them out for any signs of heat stress or bulging capacitors. Both amps were extremely clean. We adjusted the bias on both amps to factory spec and then moved on to testing.

In order to test the output and check to see that each amplifier was in proper working order, we hooked them up to our Sencore PA81 Stereo Stereo Power Amplifier Analyzer acting as a dummy load and Oscilloscope interface. Using an audio generator, we ran a 1k signal through the amps input, slowly increasing the amplitude while monitoring the output on our oscilloscope for signs of noise, clipping, distortion. They both checked out perfectly.  Following testing, we ran music through the amps  on our bench, and then in our house system for about a week running daily for 8 hours a day. They both performed flawlessly.

The amps are both in very good physical condition, with only minor blemishes. There are no dents or deep scratches. Of note, there are some scratches on the right aluminum trim piece on one amp, and on the left aluminums trim on the other amp. We included close up pictures of the blemishes in the listing. The amps will ship via freight on individual pallets in their factory Mcintosh boxes to ensure safe travel. Fully insured freight shipping charges with liftgate are $750.00
