    For your consideration, we have the rare and well regarded Mcintosh C200 Preamplifier and Controller for sale. We obtained the C200 from the original owner, who had it set up with a pair of MC501's, driving a gorgeous pair of Sonus Faber Amati Homage speakers. 

    This amazing C200 was the top of the line preamp when it came out, and can still hold its own with today's Mcintosh preamps. By splitting the Power Supply from the audio section, it allows for the best possible performance from a preamp. The C200 also comes with an excellent phono section that can accomodate most cartridges. It is able to run two turntables, and can run both MM and MC cartridges. You can see the internal moving coil section with the Mcintosh/Ortofon branded MC step up transformers pictured in the listing. The unit provides both balanced and unbalanced connections. 

    The C200 came to us in perfect working order, however it needed some "cosmetic" service. There was a cloudiness in the display which is typical in this era of Mcintosh units. The cloudiness is due to outgassing from the blue plastic lens between the lens and the glass. The other issue was that the vacuum tube display was somewhat dim. We first addressed the cloudiness issue, and then we replaced the vacuum tube display that we sourced from Mcintosh. The results were night and day, as the display is now clear and super bright (the brightness is adjustable in the settings). We also replaced all the incandescent display bulbs in both units whether they were working or not. 

    Physically the units are in very good condition, with no dents, dings, or deep scratches. There are only small marks and blemishes with some noted as follows:

    • feet marks on top of pre-amp
    •  some scratches on top of controller, see pictures
    • also a nick on the one of the aluminum trim pieces. 
    • remote has a few scratches
