For your consideration, we have a fine example of a vintage Sansui SD-5000 Reel to Reel Deck. This one owner, 4 track, 2 channel machine is in good working order. We did a light service on the unit as follows: All pots and switches were cleaned and then treated with Deoxit F5 and D5 respectively. The heads, capstan and pinch roller were all cleaned. The right and left tension arm's old grease became tacky and the arms were not moving freely. They were disassembled, cleaned, and lubricated. The belts appeared to be in good shape, so we left them alone. All functions work well and are very responsive. The previous owner had the unit stored in the box in a temperature controlled environment for a number of years. The unit looks like it did not see much use in its lifetime and is in very good physical condition. There are some blemishes and small nicks on the top and top edges of the veneer, but the deck is really clean. The reels cover is in very good condition as well with no chips or cracks and only some light blemishes. Included with the deck is the cover, manual, laminated front panel information sheet, Schematics poster, and original box with styrofoam inserts.
